Ex- National Football League Athlete Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Plea in Murder Attempt Charges

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to address an murder attempt accusation connected with a gunfire that took place in May, with his attorney filing a not guilty declaration on his behalf.

Detention logs in Essex, New Jersey, reveal that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his transfer to the state of Florida. Brown, among the most famous athletes in the National Football League, had relinquished extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being arrested in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an email that he has previously submitted a written innocent plea to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami hearing as early as Wednesday early for a bail session, Eiglarsh said.

As per his apprehension document, Brown is alleged of grabbing a pistol from a safety guard after a star match event in May and discharging two rounds at a person he had confronted with previously. The reported target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told authorities that one of the bullets scraped his throat.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was only protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was forced to take were exclusively in defense against the reported individual’s hostile behavior. Brown was attacked that time and responded within his legal entitlement to safeguard himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not immediately arrested because at first officers did not identify Nantambu as a affected party. It only afterward in May that Nantambu gave a detailed statement about the event to officers and named Brown as the perpetrator, the affidavit states.

According to his online content, Brown had been residing in the city of Dubai for several months. In a message after the incident, Brown claimed he was safeguarding himself because he was “attacked by multiple persons who attempted to take my valuables and bring physical injury to me.”

A category two murder attempt allegation in the state of Florida carries a maximum 15-year prison penalty and up to a $10,000 fee in the event of a finding.

Brown has encountered several legal challenges over the period. He earlier had been accused of physical attack of a vehicle employee, various abuse charges, failure to pay parental support and other incidents.

Throughout a 2021 game with the Buccaneers against the Jets, Brown stripped off his shirt, protective gear and handwear and ran off the stadium, resulting in his termination by the Buccaneers and effectively ending his football career.
